"Hey, you've reached Bella. I'm not around, so leave a message and I'll get back to you."
Often described as 'the most fragile human being on the planet', Bella has always been a bit out of sync with the rest of humanity. Or at least, that's how she's always perceived it. Bella is, and always has been, a complete klutz. Very uncoordinated, and yet incredibly responsible and independent. She's quiet, a 'suffer-in-silence' type, and still one of the kindest, most caring people you might have the chance of meeting. She cares for her family and friends a great deal. Much to the point where she would readily put herself in harm's way to keep one of them safe.
"I've never given much thought to how I would die. But dying in the place of someone I love seemed like a good way to go."
Bella grew up at a very young age, stepping up to take care of her mother, and often times viewing a reversed sort of relationship. Wherein she was the parent, and her mother Renee, was the child. None the less, her mother is very dear to her, and the one person she considers to be her best friend.
Books are her forte; learning, studying, school work. A straight-A student (if not for the slightly lacking scores in P.E and Theatre type classes). Despite this, Bella has always come off as a rather average type girl. She doesn't excel in anything, has no special talents or skill that she can use to her advantage despite, perhaps, being the clumsiest person alive. She has always felt awkward, like she never quite belonged. And still, to this day, can only just fathom why Edward would find her appealing. Not that she'd be caught complaining, of course.
She's shy. Dislikes the limelight, or any sort of attention that doesn't involve, perhaps, one-on-one interaction. Maybe two. Large groups make her uncomfortable, parties make her nervous, and being gussied up and sent to prom practically leaves her in fits of anger and a stubbornness near wilful enough to keep her home. She thinks being a 'girly girl' is a pain, never bothering with makeup or fancy dresses- even gifts (be it on her birthday or otherwise) simply make her uncomfortable.
Bella has always been a keep-to-herself sort of girl. She has always guarded her thoughts very strongly, always hating whenever anyone tried to understand or find out what was bothering her. She's stubborn, wilful and when set on something? Utterly determined to get whatever it is. In this case? Convincing Edward to turn her into a vampire. Something he does eventually do, inevitably having to settle on a compromise with her.
Ironically, despite wanting very much to be a vampire (at a later date to where I am taking her from), Bella is quite the fainter when it comes to the sight or smell of blood.
Her sense of humour is dry, sarcastic and harsh, especially when angry or upset. She uses it as a guard, something to distract herself with while she blocks out painful memories, things she doesn't want to deal with. Unfortunately, she's also quite good at blocking out fear as well. Which leaves her with her second most common descriptor; danger magnet.
Not only does she seem to attract it, but on occasion, she'll go looking for it. She may not seem like it now, but adrenaline junkie might be something she'll learn to love in the coming years, regardless of the reasoning behind it. Especially if it means giving her the opportunity to protect someone she cares about. It doesn't matter if she'll be put into life-threatening situations. If it means keeping someone safe at the cost of her own safety and/or life? She'll do it.
Which can be an issue. Bella is incredibly selfish in this sense. Not only with her family and friends, but utmost with Edward himself. She will put him before just about everyone, and everything else, including herself. She would risk others safeties as well, if it meant keeping him with her. Something she does eventually learn to curb and control, though she tends to ... dislike it. Edward is her biggest weakness, just as she is his. Bella will bend over backward for him, to keep him safe and happy.
One of Bella's biggest flaws (Noted as her "tragic flaw", by Stephenie Meyer) is her incredible lack of self-knoweldge. The biggest example, would be her constant denial of having any sort of romantic feeling for Jacob, despite how much later, she realizes that yes. She really is in love with him.
Something everyone seems to get, but herself. Bella is a terrible liar. Something even her subconscious (taking the form/voice of Edward himself, when he leaves) can realize. She knows she's a terrible liar, and it is about the only thing she lies about so often, that even she believes; her love for Jacob.
Her curiosity knows no bounds, as well. Constantly having questions for Edward about his life, what he is and what he does. What it would be like to be what he is, etc.. Curiosity killed the cat, they say. And technically one does have to die to become a vampire. Her lack of self-preservation is almost as acute as her lack of self-knowledge and over abundance of clumsiness.
[Text. Text is good. She likes text posts. They have that allure of anonymity. Something she can hide behind without seeming impolite. She doesn't have to put herself out there as much, and yet can still keep in contact and wow, she really does sound like a recluse.
Still, being out of Forks ... Somewhere new. Again. It's throwing her off. It's weird and it's adjusting all over again. Thank god there were people here she knew at least. Having even just a few of the Cullens here ... Having Edward here- that was enough. So maybe she could be trying a little harder. But right now?
... Nah.]
So I've kind of been wondering what sort of school system is here? like post-secondary. is it just general university, or is there like scholarships and stuff?
I'm guessing nothing out of town.
Also, does anyone know anything about part-time T.A. work? Checked the local listings but I didn't really see anything specific.
